How to Select Dies for CNC Tube Benders? Material, Groove Type and Tube Matching Tips
Target Keywords:CNC tube bender die, tube bending die selection, CNC bending mold
Whether finished parts from CNC tube benders suffer wrinkling, flattening or scratches largely depends on proper die matching. Many factories set machine parameters correctly yet still get defective outputs due to improper dies.
Main die components include bending die, antiwrinkle die, clamping die and booster die. Common die materials are Cr12MoV, 45steel and copper alloy. Alloy steel fits carbon steel tubes; copper alloy is recommended for stainless steel and copper tubes to avoid surface scratches.
Groove shape must match tube outer diameter precisely. Round tubes use round grooves while square tubes require squareshaped grooves. Looser clearance works for thickwall tubes, while thinwall tubes demand tight clearance. Too much clearance causes flattening; insufficient clearance leaves scratches.
Bending radius also matters. Smaller Rradius puts higher requirements on dies and booster units. Provide tube OD, wall thickness, bending radius and material when ordering custom dies to cut trialanderror cost. Proper die configuration greatly reduces scrap rate and improves overall productivity of CNC tube benders.
